David R. Matthies, President
Beginning his career as a carpenter, David quickly
evolved into a foreman and ultimately a superintendent
for a well-respected Hinsdale builder. After 12 years
of developing the desire to control the end product,
David made his mark as a general contractor in the
western suburbs with the establishment of Matthies
Builders, Inc. in 1997. His established proficiency
in the field and earned respect among subcontractors
are among his attributes of success. With an unmatched
eye for detail, David maintains responsibility for
bidding, scheduling, building codes and inspection
as well as quality control and daily job site supervision.
Named the 2009 Downers Grove Chamber of Commerce Young
Business Professional of the Year, David is a vocal
advocate for proper building procedures. He serves
on the Village of Downers Grove’s Architectural
Design Review Board and has been involved with the
Affordable Housing Ad Hoc Committee. David is actively
involved with the Downers Grove Loyal Order of the
Moose and Downers Grove Chamber of Commerce.
Joanna Matthies, Accounting and Client Relations
Joanna joined Matthies Builders in 2000. In addition to maintaining
all the financial operations of the company, Joanna’s primary
role is to provide one-on-one service with clients as they select
every design facet of a truly custom Matthies home. Understanding
that each individual has his own idea of the ultimate dream home,
Joanna remains current with product trends and the latest in product
innovation and quality. Her decade of experience in every phase of
construction including the construction loan process has provided
her with a battery of knowledge that she makes available to her clients.
An active mother of three young boys, Joanna is an involved member
of both the PTA and Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club where
she served as an elected officer and Ways and Means chair for many
years. She has also served on the Village of Downers Grove
Stormwater and Floodplain Oversight Committee for the Village of
Downers Grove. |
